Chicken Chow Mein Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250g chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 200g chow mein noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 100g cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Spring onions, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken breast and stir-fry until cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion, and stir-fry until fragrant and the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the julienned carrot, sliced bell pepper, and shredded cabbage to the pan. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the pan with the vegetables.
  6. Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the pan, along with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
