Indulge in the comforting flavors of fall with these fluffy pumpkin biscuits. Perfectly spiced and wonderfully tender, they make for a delightful addition to any meal or a cozy snack.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 3/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger until well combined.
  3. Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs and the butter is evenly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, buttermilk, maple syrup, and honey until smooth.
  5. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the wet ingredients. Gently stir until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 3/4 inch (2 cm) thick.
  7. Using a floured biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass, cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
  8. Gather any remaining dough scraps, pat them together, and cut out more biscuits until all the dough is used.
  9. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top and cooked through.
  10. Remove the biscuits from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
  11. Enjoy your warm, fragrant pumpkin biscuits with butter, honey, or your favorite jam. These biscuits are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
