Indulge in the sweet, crunchy goodness of caramel-coated walnuts with this simple recipe. Perfect as a snack or as a topping for salads, desserts, or even breakfast dishes!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup walnuts
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Pinch of salt
Directions:
- Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
- Add the walnuts to the skillet and toast them for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become fragrant. Be careful not to burn them.
- Once the walnuts are toasted, remove them from the skillet and set them aside.
- In the same skillet, add the granulated sugar and let it melt, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or spatula. The sugar will start to clump and then liquefy.
- Once the sugar has melted completely and turned into a golden caramel color, add the butter to the skillet and stir until it’s fully incorporated into the caramel.
- Carefully add the toasted walnuts back into the skillet with the caramel, stirring quickly to coat them evenly.
- Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the caramel walnuts and continue stirring for another 1-2 minutes, until the walnuts are fully coated and the caramel has thickened slightly.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the caramel walnuts to a parchment-lined baking sheet or a plate, spreading them out into a single layer to cool.
- Allow the caramel walnuts to cool completely before serving or storing them in an airtight container for later enjoyment.
Enjoy your delicious homemade caramel walnuts as a delightful treat or a versatile ingredient in your favorite recipes!
