Spaghetti with Shrimp and White Sauce Recipe

This dish is a classic combination of tender spaghetti, succulent shrimp, and a creamy white sauce. It’s perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a special occasion.

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined (thawed if frozen)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package directions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.
  2. While the spaghetti cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the shrimp to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until opaque and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  5. (Optional) Add the white wine to the pan and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom. Let the wine simmer for a minute or two to reduce slightly.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  7. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Add the cooked spaghetti and shrimp back to the pan and toss to coat everything in the sauce.
  9. Serve immediately garnished with fresh chopped parsley.
