Ham and Cheese Pinwheels Recipe

These Ham and Cheese Pinwheels are the perfect combination of savory ham, creamy cheese, and flaky pastry. They make for a delicious appetizer or snack that’s sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 slices of ham
  • 6 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Roll it out slightly to smooth any creases and to create a larger rectangle.
  3. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Layer the slices of ham evenly over the mustard-covered pastry, followed by the slices of Swiss cheese.
  5. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log, like a jelly roll.
  6. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels. You should get about 12 pinwheels from one sheet of pastry.
  7. Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow for expansion.
  8. Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg, and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and optional sesame seeds or poppy seeds.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious Ham and Cheese Pinwheels!
