Cream Puffs Recipe

These delightful pastries are light and airy, with a crisp exterior and a creamy filling. They’re perfect for a sweet treat or dessert!

For the cream puffs:

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the water, butter, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a rolling boil.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and add all the flour at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  4. Return the pan to low heat and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly. This helps to evaporate some of the moisture from the dough.
  5. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Let it cool slightly for a few minutes.
  6. Beat in the eggs one at a time, using an electric mixer on medium speed. Beat well after each addition until the dough is smooth and shiny.
  7. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a ½-inch round tip. Alternatively, you can spoon the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Pipe or spoon tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving a couple of inches between each puff.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and puffed. Don’t open the oven door during baking, as this can cause the puffs to deflate.
  10. Once baked, remove the puffs from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack before filling.
