This recipe captures the essence of a classic pound cake, simple yet bursting with flavor. Perfect for afternoon tea or a delightful dessert.

  • 4 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 7 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan or loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This will take several minutes with an electric mixer.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar for a finishing touch (optional).
