Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup warm water
    • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • For the Filling (choose one or create your own):
    • Meat Filling:
      • 150 grams minced pork
      • ½ cup chopped scallions
      • ½ cup chopped cabbage
      • ½ cup chopped carrots (optional)
      • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
      • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
      • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
      • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Vegetarian Filling:
      • ½ block firm tofu, crumbled
      • 1 cup chopped vegetables (such as bell peppers, mushrooms, or carrots)
      • ½ cup chopped scallions
      • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
      • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
      • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
      • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
      • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the warm water and oil. Mix with a wooden spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms. Knead the dough for several minutes on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic. Add a splash of water if the dough is too dry. Form the dough into a ball, place it in a bowl, and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Filling: While the dough rests, prepare your chosen filling.
    • Meat Filling: In a bowl, combine the minced pork, scallions, cabbage, carrots (if using), soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, and salt and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
    • Vegetarian Filling: Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped vegetables and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
