Cheesy Pull Apart Bread Recipe

This recipe is perfect for anyone who loves warm, cheesy bread that’s easy to make and even easier to share! Get ready for gooey cheese pulls and happy tummies.

  • 1 large loaf of Italian bread (sourdough or French bread also work)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bunch scallions, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 oz shredded Monterey Jack cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic, and scallions (if using).
  3. Prepare your bread loaf by cutting it into a grid pattern. Make diagonal cuts about 1 inch deep, stopping just before you cut all the way through the bottom crust.
  4. Using a spoon or your fingers, drizzle the garlic butter mixture into all the crevices of the cut bread.
  5. Gently pry open each gap in the bread and stuff with a pinch of cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese.
  6. Brush any remaining garlic butter over the top of the bread.
  7. Wrap the entire loaf loosely in aluminum foil. This will help steam the bread and ensure the garlic butter gets absorbed throughout.
  8. Bake the covered bread for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the top of the bread is golden brown and crispy.
  10. Let the bread cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley (optional) and enjoy pulling apart those cheesy goodness!
