This recipe uses the air fryer to create sizzling steak fajitas with colorful peppers and onions, all in under 30 minutes!

  • 1 pound thin-sliced skirt steak (or flank steak)
  • 1 bell pepper (any color, sliced)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fajita seasoning (or chili powder, cumin, paprika blend)
  • 1/2 lime, juiced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Marinate the steak (optional): In a bowl, combine steak, fajita seasoning, lime juice (if using), and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight, for extra tender and flavorful steak.
  2. Prepare the vegetables: While the steak marinates (or if skipping marinating), slice the bell pepper and onion.
  3. Preheat air fryer: Most air fryers work best when preheated. Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Cook the vegetables: Toss the sliced peppers and onions with a bit of olive oil and salt and pepper. Arrange them in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and slightly browned. Remove the vegetables from the basket and set them aside.
  5. Cook the steak: Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Arrange the steak strips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until cooked to your desired doneness (rare: 125°F, medium-rare: 135°F, medium: 145°F, medium-well: 155°F, well-done: 160°F).
  6. Assemble and serve: Warm your tortillas in the microwave or a skillet. Divide the cooked steak and vegetables among the tortillas. Top with your favorite fajita toppings like shredded cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and chopped cilantro. Enjoy!
