Air Fryer Chicken Rissoles Recipe

These Air Fryer Chicken Rissoles are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional pan-fried rissoles. Packed with flavor, they’re quick and easy to prepare, making them perfect for a weeknight dinner or meal prep.


  • 500g (1 lb) ground chicken – Lean chicken works best for a healthier option.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped or grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small carrot, grated
  • 1 small zucchini, grated and excess moisture squeezed out
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs – Regular or panko for extra crunch.
  • 1 egg – Helps bind the mixture.
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 tbsp dried parsley)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika – Adds a smoky flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or 1 tbsp olive oil – For air frying.


  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and grated zucchini.
    • Add the breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. The mixture should be sticky but not too wet.
  2. Form the Rissoles:
    • With clean hands or using a spoon, shape the mixture into small patties (rissoles), about the size of a golf ball, then flatten slightly. You should get around 8-10 rissoles depending on the size.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Cook the Rissoles:
    • Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with cooking spray or olive oil to prevent sticking.
    • Place the rissoles in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each one.
    • Spray or brush the top of the rissoles lightly with cooking spray or olive oil.
    • Air fry at 180°C (350°F) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the rissoles are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 74°C or 165°F).
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the rissoles from the air fryer and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
    • Serve warm with your favorite sides like a fresh salad, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes.
